You love golf you’re planning to move to Costa Rica and you would like to live in one of the most secure communities in Costa Rica. Well, you just found your destination: Cariari or Ciudad Cariari Costa Rica (Cariari City), as it is officially known, was born some 40 years ago when some astute businessmen got together and bought 100 hectares (247 acres) of some of the most lush coffee plantations around, just seven miles outside of the capital San Jose and under the jurisdiction of the nearby town of Belen (Bethlehem) that was then no more than a tiny dirt-road town.

The Cariari Country Club was the first to build a golf course in Costa Rica. The golf course design and construction was left to Tom Fazio who, at the time, was a virtual unknown. Around this wonderful golf course in Costa Rica, which is still arguably the best golf course in Central America, a whole development grew to include two thousand very exclusive and luxury homes. There are several golf courses in Costa Rica  but this 18-hole Championship golf course in the Cariari Country Club is the best golf course in Costa Rica.

Cariari was subdivided by a Costarican development company into more or less 600 building lots, most with homes. Ciudad Cariari Costa Rica is subdivided in different subdivisions: Bosques de doña Rosa being the largest one, followed by doña Claudia and Residencial Los Arcos. Cariari Costa Rica is one of the most secure communities in Costa Rica. These subdivisions are very secure and sought after by the local buyers of real estate as well as the foreigners because of their location and security.

Over the years, a mix of Costarican nationals and residents from all over the world like, North Americans, Europeans, Latins and Asians have build their homes, condos and luxury homes in Cariari. Bosques de Doña Rosa offers wide and well maintained boulevards with beautiful trees take you from one end to the other, with many small streets and cul de sac type streets everywhere, to give total privacy to all neighbors and stop traffic from having to go everywhere.

There are park areas everywhere and the streets have sidewalks, another very uncommon issue in most of Costa Rica. Controlled access makes the neighborhood totally safe for those who like to walk or jog. Therefore, traffic noise is just not there, which is very uncommon in Costa Rica. Bosques de Doña Rosa and Los Arcos are amongst the most secure communities in Cariari.

Very few neighborhoods in Costa Rica are designed for their quiet and leisurely enjoyment of the neighbors as well as Cariari is. Bosques de Doña Rosa offers more luxury homes and Los Arcos is more middle class but as nice as any other neighborhood in Costa Rica and some of the properties are actually on the golf course.

Your children will be welcomed at the ‘American International School’, founded some 40 years ago, to provide US equivalent education from pre-school to grade 12.  The teaching is in English and the institute is fully US accredited.

For those who like to have their grand children visit, just around the corner of Cariari is a large water park, Waterland and only 15 minutes away is the largest amusement park of the country, Parque National de Diversiones. Also the well known public swimming pool Ojo de Agua is nearby.
