About this Agent: What I like about Los Santos, Costa Rica
My name is Tony Warren and my wife and I live in the area of Los Santos. I am the GoDutch Realty Los Santos real estate agent. Please allow me to write a bit about living in Los Santos and tell you some of the reasons why I love to live here. One of my neighbors just stopped by to bring me some homemade cheese; we talked awhile and made plans to go trout fishing next weekend in the river below town.
Los Santos is old-time Costa Rica at its best. Neighbors still have time to visit and when needed lend a helping hand. The air is clean, the streams are crystal clear and birds start singing at daybreak each morning. I haven’t seen a traffic jam since last time I was in San Jose.
Los Santos isn’t for everyone. We don’t have too many ocean views, but I love the views of the mountains from my garden behind my house. Some don’t like the cool evenings, but I enjoy sitting by the fire and reading a book. Some think it’s to quiet, but I enjoy the croak of the frogs and the early morning songs of the birds. Others may feel it’s too dark at night, but I love to look up at the myriads of stars in the sky.
I like that the girl at the grocery store knows be by name and asks how my family is doing. I like sharing a beer at the pub with some of the old-timers and hear their stories. I like taking long walks in the woods and seeing the birds and animals. I enjoy helping a neighbor pick strawberries that he will take to the farmers market. I like stopping by another neighbor to see his new hydroponics system for growing lettuce and celery. And I enjoy putting into practice some of things I learned in my own garden. I enjoy watching Abuelo work his oxen to plow a field on the side of a hill. Every day there is always something new to enjoy.
Los Santos is a large area that covers the cantons of Dota, Tarrazu and Leon Cortez and is part of the province of San Jose. There are several large towns (though none large enough to have a traffic light) and nearly a hundred smaller towns and communities. It is a bit south of San Jose and it usually entered from the Pan American highway between Cartago and San Isidro. Weather can be quite cool in the higher mountains (where I live) or warmer in the lower valleys. Agriculture is the main production of the area though there is also a growing number of tourists that visit the area, especially the national parks and forests that are in the area.
If you are thinking of a move to Costa Rica and like the country life-style then you really should check out Los Santos, you won’t be disappointed. Give me a call or shoot me an email, I promise you’ll be in for a good time.
